My final (and second) word about Napster is this:
Whatever you shall argue, it doesn't matter.
The technology is here. There are a lot more progs (the most important one:
Gnutella) which cannot be shut down for they have no servers.
The Revolution has started, whether you like it or not. so you, and the
record companies, will have to except it. They have to learn to use the
    Technology instead of sueing it.
Believe me, you can't change the course of the past, you have to look to
the future. And the future is H.E.R.E.

    Chewy out

Ya know, I'm starting to think it was a mistake to say I wasn't interested when the stage manager at Progfest offered me and my friend a DAT of the show, including the performance by TransAtlantic, if we gave him our addresses. And yes, he was the stage manager, not just some weirdo perv, because he took us backstage and introduced us to Neal and the guys. D'oh.

yes it would still be illegal but i believe that in order for someting to be counterfeit, it has to be a copy of an original, and if there is no original 200$ bill, then technically it wouldnt be counterfeit...

Although I could very well be wrong, I think there are some sort of consumer protection laws that "should" guarantee that you get the dvd for the 30% off it was orginally advertised for, assuming you ordered it prior to the price change.

If that doesn't work, bitch loud enough and anybody will cave. (you shoulda seen some of the stunts people pulled while I worked at Wal*Mart)

Well, I can't say that I really like his solo album, since I've only heard two songs off it. :) I really do think he has an amazing voice... kind of ironic since I usually really love bass-baritones. But man can he sing. As it is, those two songs I did hear are awesome. I ordered the CD off CDnow, finally sent in the payment (yeah delayed paycheck!) and promptly got an email stating my payment was received, then a quick follow-up saying the DC Cooper album was on BACKORDER (sound familiar anyone?), and something to the effect of God knows when it will be delivered. Quite infuriating. Any suggestions on constructive means to vent my frustration, apart from engaging in morally and legally questionable activities in order to assuage my need for a music fix?

The thing which some of you are baffled about is from a game for Genesis called "Zero Wing." It was apparently a VERY bad translation job from Japanese to English, hence the "SOMEBODY SET UP US THE BOMB" phrases and such. You can see a screen shot of the entire opening sequence to the game at http://oz.plymouth.edu/~a_couter/zerowing.gif

Personally, I cancel just about any backordered items I get with CDNow (seems to happens every other order). The DC Cooper is pretty widely available on the web. Check out...

    http://www.dreamdisc.com/ ($16) http://www.sentinelsteel.com/ ($12) http://www.lasercd.com/ ($13)

Those are all great vendors, and there's many more out there. CDNow is, generally speaking, a quality vendor, but it ain't the end-all-be-all of internet-based music distribution. Personal attention is good.

Has anyone else heard the new Soilwork album, "A Predator's Portrait" yet? Wow. Picture a slightly proggier version of In Flames, a nice combo of harsh and clean vox.

Yup I have and it's very good indeed. It's got a great sound, kinda like death metal meets some old fashioned thrash, but very modern sounding.

The added bonus is that some of the clean vox is supplied by no other than Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth.

    Random thought-

What if the internet did not exist? We would have no clue about the pre production of the dvd, release date on cd's etc etc....

Im sure there are some old timers here who remeber the days of walking into a cd store and saying "whoah, Maiden has a new cd out, lemme get it" Now if the cd comes out 2 weeks later than posted or osmething, everyone gets in an uproar.
