    Hi.

I don't know why everyone thinks that the live tracks are awful. The
gig was great (Provinssirock), Tony Kakko himself told me that it
was one of the best they had ever played. Their new songs are
pretty good, in my opinion, but what I DON'T like on the Successor
ep are the cover songs "I want out" (why choose a song like this
and then play it almost exactly like Helloween did) and "Still loving
you" (a "rape" almost. it's fun live, but as a studio track....)

"Eplictica" is awesome. I was too afraid to buy it first (young
teenagers "copying" Stratovarius, was what I thought), but when I
got it, I was obsessed with it for months. Excellent stuff.

A similar series that I've been told is worlds better
is James BeauSigneur's Christ Clone Trilogy. I could
not put it down, it was so cool. In these books, the
Second Coming is achieved by cloning cells that were
found on the Shroud of Turin. It's a bit more secular
than the Left Behind series. (There's even *gasp* some
cursing!) And it's way sci-fi. It includes end times
"prophecies" from pretty much every major religion and
many minor ones, including new age stuff. Highly, highly
    recommended for anyone.

A side topic along the same lines: My dad just got me a book for Christmas
that was called "Left Behind," and while I'm not sure he got it for me for
these reasons, it's actually a really religious-based book that is,
ironically, dealing with the second coming. Despite the blatant attempts
to preach to the public on how to get Christ into one's life, it's
actually a decent book, and I suggest it to anybody who either (a) likes
science fiction, or (b) is looking for real-world slants on their own
      religious lives.

Agreed. I haven't been able to get Successor (on CD, anyway) yet, but I
have Ecliptica and it's excellent. "Young Finnish band with aspirations
toward the throne held by their mighty countrymates Stratovarius -- and

    hehehehe

I get them all the time (same survey company). I generally rate
anything heavy as a "fave" or "Really like" and anything old and crappy
as "tired of." I'm trying to warp our local rock station into a more
metallic vein. It may be working, but in Atlanta, rock radio reallly
    sucks the big wahini.

Several songs on Successor are just LIVE versions from Ecliptica, which isn't a bad thing :)

I just watched that movie last night. I had no idea about the book series. I mean I've seen them everywhere but had no idea what they are about. It sucked. Decent premise, horrible acting, musical score, SFX, you name it it sucked. Kirk Cameron is the main character, what does that tell you.

Reminded me alot of a cross between "the Langoliers" and "the Stand" by Stephen King.

What you do is that you goto Plugins then Input and configure the MIDI plug-ing. At the bottom of the configuration there's a Write Wav files to: and just select the directory you want them in.

zartan gets sucked back into it (please dont flame this time...or go ahead, it might be funny): << Not at all. I could also compare Jesus to the Heaven's Gate dude (his name eludes me right now). All we know about Jesus comes from the ravings of 12 a few minor points that show how david koresh was not christ: (1)he stockpiled guns. jesus was a pacifist and also, as a divine being, would have no use for guns. (2) koresh did not perform anything remotely close to miracles except convince a bunch of mindless texans to join him. the heavens gate guy was just the same as koresh or any other raving lunatic since christ himself. of the ones who do not die by the hand of the us government or by their own, psychiatry has a multitude of diagnoses for these people (mainly severe personality disorders and bipolar disorder). >>apostles. Remember my Backstreet Boys analogy? Take 12 N'Sync fans and allow them to live with and chronicle the lives of those five people and the Jews might find their Messiah in their writings. Don't get me wrong, but hmm. well, interesting analogy. pretty accurate as far as documentation goes. i guess one must come to a conclusion based purely on faith. although youre leaving out the millions of people who were described in the bible (and other historical evidence points to this) as following jesus. i guess they could be the same fools who followed koresh and others but jesus is credited with performing miracles. believeing those is another issue. its hard to accept the proof of such things in an age of doubt and skepticism. >>here were people who walked the Earth who would have written similar accords about Hitler. I don't care to thoroughly debase the whole of logically true i guess but not historically accurate. we have tons and tons of historical evidence of both these people and they are not quite the same. :) >>Christianity because of my skepticism, but I'm not about to embrace it, either. It has it good points. Jesus, I'm sure, was a cool dude and I hope to someday lift a brewski with the Man. :) Until then, I still believe that to have a saviour a person needs saving, and honestly, I'm perfectly safe, thank you. :D korg, youre pretty cool and i dig what youre saying about needing to be saved. its a difficult proposition to come to grips with. i think its circular reasoning myself. in order to believe that you have to be a christian (or on the way) you have to believ you need saving, but to be a saved you have to become a christian. or something like that. anyway, im not articulate enough to provide an argument here, so i would suggest you read the bible. im still convinced its a matter of faith. that scares me to a degree but ive accepted it. its fun to have it. although, there are many facets of christianty that are extremely hard to swallow, the basic premise is undeniably perfect. jonathan thinks korg has been negatively influenced by the cretins that comprise the so-called christian right and moral majority. zartan recommends stealing jesus by bruce bawer for some serious reading on the subject.

Left Behind-there is a movie starring Kirk Cameron (he's so cute) that came out Oct 31st on video, rents better than a Jenna Jameson flick. We have 9 copies of it where I work, and we can't keep em on the shelf.

I FINALLY got an NES emulator last night. Tecmo Super Bowl. Woohoo.

As for the tree, Im posting the smae thing I posted on the mp.com, and will probably get falmed for this again, but here there is no one to take those flames out. /me puts on fireman's suit and hopes I don't gets burned.

"At this time, with myself starting school and James out of town, it is not the optimal time to tree the Glasgow show. James was to handle the actual tree structure and I was to handle the distribution, and within this timeframe with school starting it just can't be done. James has a full time job, and has a family so his plate is very full as well. I may have some free time over the Mardi Gras Holiday (Feb26th-Feb29th) or Spring break which is a ways away and James will have more time to devote to the project after mid-February. We are sorry for the inconvience. We will do it in a couple

months. Be a little more patient. Furthermore, we feel that the tree would take away from the excitement and attention that is deserved by Metropolis 2000 Live Scenes from New York, and also Mullmuzzler, the new Savatage, and so on"

Okay, first of all, he was trying to be HUMOROUS. Secondly, in a way, he's right. What he's saying isn't anything to do with the Jews and everything to do with the fanaticism of the followers. I know exactly what he's saying. He's saying that the apostles wrote what they did because they were as fanatic in their followings of Jesus as these Backstreet Boys' followers would be.

Depending on who's following you, you can be construed as good OR bad, isn't that it, korg? For example, a thousand years from now, we could find the writings of someone who followed David Koresh and think that he was an amazing person because these people believed in him?

What're you talking about?? Jesus runs this mailing list.

Before being sacrificed upon the altar..., "Korg Ecksthrey" thus begged: > >It makes sense, though, doesn't it? I mean, if the Biblical Jesus existed >(hey, I'm a skeptic) and thus returned, why do people think he'd come back >in a flash of colored light, 300 feet tall, or with sparkling little faerie >lights dancing around his head? And if Jesus were to return as a regular >bloke, I'd wager that 99.99999999...% of Christians would denounce him. >(David Koresh, anyone?) Ah, well. Just food for thought. :) >-- >KorgX3 doesn't care either way, cuz if there's a hell, it's gonna be a >killer party place. :D

Well, at least you can detect blatant ignorance. :D I mean, to be honest, the >only< Jewish person I've met in my entire life (yeah, we're kosherly deprived o'er yonder) is Jon Parmet and that's only been for a few hours and not once did we discuss religion (aside from Mormonism, but we were in Salt Lake City, so there ya go.) :)

All I've learned about Jewish people is what I've learned from watching South Park. *grins* How's that for a theological education? :) -- KorgX3 is just glad to have offended someone.

    Hello Jam-type people:

I de-lurk for one selfish reason only. I need to rummage through thy grey matter regarding video cards, audio cards and operating systems.

I'm buying a new PC, and this what I want to use it for: 1) Digitizing video from my analog camcorder and/or VCR. 2) Digitizing audio from my home cassette deck. 3) Burning CDs at the speed of light. 4) Playing DVDs on my PC, but watching them on my TV.

Not much to ask, right? Can I plug my analog RCA jacks into the video card or do I need an adapter? Is the SoundBlaster Live going to cut it for my audio cravings? I've got the perfect system spec'd out with Dell, except they only offer the 8X CD-RW. I've really got my heart set on a 12X. Gateway has that configuration, but I've heard much better things about Dell. Is an internal CD-RW better than an external?

Is WindowsME really as buggy as I hear? Should I go with Win2KPro? Or will that cause conflicts with all the hardware?

Apologies for clogging the Jam with this, but I'm getting different answers from different people and need a little clarification. I've got about $3K to play with.

Reply direct to me if you wish. Thanks all!

    Lyle lyle_k@yahoo.com

P.S. Mac is not an option, so please no snide remarks!
