    Hello.
I just got my Spock's Beard - V CD, ordered thru a pal from America,
    from the ALLDIRECT site.

I nearly had a heartattack when I noticed the CD started skipping like
crazy around 21:14 on the last track 6. ;(

I checked it on my bro CD player too, it does skip too, but on my
computer CD player it doesn't skip. :(
Now it's not dust for sure, but can it be some factory mistake on my CD
    only?

The computer CD players are far more bad quality than the regular ones,
but in general they read more easily thru CD errors no?

I'm so pissed off and I can't return it since it's ordered from another
continent damn it, and the petition period I think it's over, since I
had a pal bringing it to me from USA.

Sorry Kurt, I'm going to have to go with Metallica for the 80's. GNR is an
overratted heap of dog shit. But I will go with AIC over Nirvana, they were
more experimental with the music and lyrics. Although Nirvana Unplugged is
one of my favorite CDs of all time. Just my .02 cents.

And Creed, and 3 Doors Down, and to a certain extent Days of the New (first
album). I don't understand why the Unplugged album is consistenly called a
"mistimed" or "ill-considered" live album by so many critics. It's true that
Layne Staley sounds somewhat weak on the album, especially towards the end,
but the performances are almost spot on perfect, and the solos here are some
of the best Jerry's ever played. How is the new live album?

What I hope is that Si will control Derek's need to use these horribly =

they know when to use it and not, unlike some other bands...

Right on, Kurt! I was listening to AIC Unplugged last night. Aside from Layne going stale (no pun intended) on a few of the high notes, I think I like this better than their "plugged in" material. I forget the drummer's name, as if I ever knew it, but I've always thought he was great. Everything he plays fits so perfectly with the music but never detracts from it.

Yeah, I was at the NAMM show, it was a trip to hear them cover
this tune... I wish they could have played longer because they were "on"...

Also, I did see the production model of John Petrucci's guitar at the Ernie
Ball/Musicman booth... They had both 6 & 7 string versions... Pretty nice
looking guitars... I am sure someone will start posting pictures and specs
    soon enough... ;-)

Ask and ye shall receive. :) (From www.johnpetrucci.com)

"SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (January 15, 2001) -- Ernie Ball is proud to add the
John Petrucci Signature Guitar to its line up of Music Man Guitars, to be
introduced in January at the NAMM 2001 music show, and available to order.

"Our collaboration with John has produced a very unique guitar with great
style and many practical features for today's guitarists," said Dudley
Gimpel, head of research and development for Ernie Ball. He explained that
the guitar is extremely versatile for any playing style, especially with the
addition of a piezo bridge available on particular models, as a wide variety
of tones can be achieved with different magnetic and piezo combinations.

Made to each order's specification, the Petrucci Signature Guitar will come
in four models: 6 string standard, 6 string with piezo bridge, 7 string
standard, and 7 string with piezo bridge. With the piezo option, the guitar
can be operated in mono and stereo mode.

Each model will feature a basswood body, a maple neck with a rosewood
fingerboard, and a matching painted headstock. The fretboard will feature
custom inlays, with a "JP" inside a shield just above the first fret. All
Petrucci Signature Guitars will have newly designed Music Man bridges and
saddles, and will come with a tremolo.

The Signature Guitar stands out from other guitars with a new and unique
contoured "cradle" in the upper body. "John is very excited about this
feature-- it provides players with a new level of comfort and stability for
the picking arm. The bridge is also newly designed with a special cover
plate that makes for comfortable hand positioning," explained Gimpel.

Guitar players can choose from a variety of standard Music Man colors,
however the new Pearl Redburst and Petrucci's signature color are only
available on the Petrucci guitar. The signature color refracts light,
creating a prism effect that changes color when viewed from different
    angles.

Retail prices are as follows: 6 string standard - $1,995; 7 string option -
$200; Piezo option - $350; Signature Color - $400 (no additional charge for
    matching headstock or stock colors)."
