Here's some more Rush news - straight from Geddy this time!

    --------------

    Fresh from http://www.geddylee.net

    Greetings to all,

I thought it was about time that I lifted my head out of the confines
of studio life and checked in with this web site and communicated
recent goings on to all of you.

To begin with, let me thank all those fans that organized, and in any
way participated in the recent Rushcon 2001, that was held in
Toronto. Quite a show of dedication and loyalty and one that did not
go unnoticed or unappreciated by us. Although I was disappointed that
I came in second last in the Geddy Lee look-a-like contest, I'm sure
I'll get over it! What with the Raptors losing to the Sixers, I'm
    getting used to disappointments.

Secondly, I appreciate the continuing interest in My Favourite
Headache. The c.d. and the website. The good karma that has come from
it keeps my spirits lifted and has shown me what a worthwhile
endeavour it was indeed. The benefits of which have carried me into
the latest Rush project with renewed vigour, confidence and sharpened
    studio chops!!

Speaking of which...I'm sure you'd like to know how things are coming
along. Well, although things began rather slowly, as you can well
imagine after 6 years between writing sessions, and considering all
that we and Neil in particular have been through personally, I'm
happy to report that we are now deeply ensconced in the creative mode
and a collection of songs is starting to take shape. More importantly
there is an optimistic atmosphere and we are once again communicating
fresh ideas together as a band. Experimenting as always, but not
afraid to get a little physical!!

And so we will continue on with this process until such time that we
all feel confident that the material we have written is "great"
enough to be released as the next Rush album. When that will be? I
can't say exactly, but with luck on our side we hope to release
    something early in 2002.

Soooo, I guess that's all that's new from me at the moment. Once again
thanks to all of you for your enduring support, the effect of which
has undoubtedly contributed to our ability to continue down this road
    for so long.

    Best Wishes And Go Jays!!
    Geddy

P.S. Yes... I do read the messages that you post. Hopefully, I will
get to answer more of your questions when my schedule is more
    forgiving..

    Hey Jammers,

Me, the lucky bastard, will be in Germany for six weeks as of Sun 10
June and am going to do my best to attend the Spock's Beard show in
Nurnburg on the 12 June. Are any jammers here planning to go - if so,
let me know so we can catch up. Ich spreche fuck all German so I could
    use a tour guide :)

If only it was DT playing, but hey, can't complain...

I won't be buying it. To be honest, I don't see the need; I have the DVD (have I ever told you guys how much I love having a DVD-ROM drive? ;)), I've got the MP3s of the missing tracks, and since I own every other DT release, this really does seem above and beyond the call of duty. This is the record company trying to double their sales, and unless there's something more than just material that I'm betting that all of us already own in at least one format (or two in some cases), I don't have any inclination to waste my money a second time when I could be buying Mullmuzzler II. Sorry.

Has anyone else noticed what Pearl Jam has done? Next time you're in a store that has lots of CD's for sale, take a look at the Pearl Jam section. They released every show on their last tour. Each one is a 2 CD set with barebones packaging, but the price is only $12-$15. The North American concerts are in brown packages, and European concerts are in white.

That's a wonderful idea if you're a rich Pearl Jam fan. Does anyone know how they convinced their record company to allow them to release about 80 double-disc sets simultanously?

    Take care, Mark Peters epididymisle@earthlink.net

Speak for yourself, buddy. I honestly can't imagine why people would complain because they didn't put this out. if they weren't putting this out, people would bitch that they are not putting it out. As usual, nobody can be greatful. I won't buy a DVD, for reasons I have already explained, and while I might have mp3's, I want a professionally produced CD. And I still don't have ACOS from this gig. I want ACOS, damnit. At 12:29 PM 6/1/2001, you wrote:

well in your case thats fine and dandy, but in my case most of my music listening is done in the car, and the 3cds ive made out of the dvd are OK but not that great....so it is a welcome addition...

to some degree, i see your point. why buy something that you don't neccesarily NEED. however, if the record company (whether they're just trying to double sales or not) sees that at their attempt to make a buck, DT's fans respond with vigor, then that can only mean possitive things for the band. we always bitch and moan about OFB not getting the respect, airplay, decent venues, etc. that they deserve. well, i can tell you right now that it's because the powers-that-be don't see that it would be fruitful to pursue a market that they don't think will bring in decent money. if for no other reason, pick up this most recent release because it shows that much more how DT's fans support them. besides, if you don't get it, then you truthfully won't have ALL their albums. :)

I just hope that the live cd has better mix/production than the DVD... = the high freq's lack definition... :(

So I guess there's no point in ever going to see them live either... After all, you've already heard all of the songs so what's the point?? Why "waste" your money???

I for one certainly don't see it as a waste. It'll probably cost about $40 Australian to buy but how many hours worth of music is there?? 3-4 hours worth!!! I can justify paying $40 for it. It's paying that much if not more for a single like "Through Her Eyes" that I object to.

    Paul.
