I'm surprised that no one mentioned Shadow Gallery for good prog material. They are insanely good, and barely a notch below DT in my list. I haven't heard their first CD, but the newest "Legacy" as well as "Carved in Stone" is absolutely incredible. cya

Yeah, too bad they've never played a single LIVE show in their lives. They don't tour....... or I'd be at that show!

Actually, ToA is thier 3rd cd. They had another self-titled one in '94. Trevor

Thanks for all the hard work Skadz! Everyone on the list owes you a beer (or even two, considering the minimal salary we pay you). ;o)

I second that, Audio Galaxy is very cool. You can find practically anything. It probably won't be around forever, so start hoarding! :-)

I found a lot of Dream Theater odd and ends. One in particular, was a DT live version of "Winter" from Tori Amos. I got my hands on her original, very haunting/emotional song.

BTW, it may be too early to congrat Skadz, but this is the first Spam free 'jam in ages. Keep it up. Bring back the glory days!

Does anyone know who choose to cover that song at the Uncovered gig? If I remember correctly, I heard they each chose a few songs to do. I know I've heard Mike say he wanted to do Funeral For a Friend. Winter seemed like an odd choice since I don't see her as being any kind of influence on DT, and they didn't say anything about it during the show. Only Kev was into Tori, and he wasn't there, so...

Here are the major KC albums (early) you should get: In the Court of the Krimson King, Larks' Tongues in Aspic (one of the best), Starless and Bible Black, Red, and The Nightwatch: Live at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw (But I'm Dutch so I'm biased).

It's worth noting that the live double cd actually IS part of Starless and Bible Black; certain live performances from this recording were simply overdubbed to be used on that album. However, the other live performances on this disk, particularly Easy Money, Exiles, and Larks' Tongues Pt. 2, which are all rather different from their studio versions, make this album worth buying (And of course Fripp's accompanying commentary makes for some amusing reading if you're in the mood to be slightly confused for a little while).
