    Yep!

At the moment the best way to obtain it in the West is to order it via
the band's website, http://www.meet-superior.de/ This will get you an
autographed copy of the CD via Mark Metzger, a longtime U.S. fan of the
band, as long as copies are available.

Some U.S. distribution is supposed to be on the way -- Bernd, any update
on this? I know who you were talking to, but hadn't heard any further
    details.....

Has anyone heard about the new Greg Howe album, on which Wooten plays bass? When does that come out? That's gotta be sick to the point of disguisting, no less. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find out when it's being released... supposedly they were to get together at Howe's studio last September for final mixing, but where it was going from there I have no idea.

Safety is really cool. I'd say it falls somewhere soundwise between his first solo disc "Naomi's Solar Pumpkin" and his first solo disc for Metal Blade "Moonflower Lane". It doesn't have the sound that Moonflower had but retains more of the DIY well produced demo sound of Naomi. Songs are well written and very introspective. Ty could have written something truly pissed of based on the issues in his life, but opted to reach for something more melodic and melancholy. I totally dig it. Just like I like that Jelly Jam cd.

There is also the new age instrumental disc that Ty put out. It's only available through his website www.tytabor.net

there are some interesting things going on with that cd. only 6 songs, but it's growing on me more and more with each listen.

Concerning Gordian Knot apparently most of you like them :). Which is not a surprise :)

Now that I have only just discovered the first album (WOW). I'm the lucky one to get a second album without a wait ;)

I'm on my way to get that trailer, thanks for the info.

Talk to ye all soon, A carbon based bipedal lifeform.

Some great Steve Morse commentary lately... Something I always love to see.

In any case, I'll add my comments which essentially reinforce a few other comments already seen...

First off, none of Steve's albums with Deep Purple or Kansas really come close to giving you the experience of his original music. It's still good, but it's not Morse.

Secondly, you have two distinct bands to reckon with: The Dixie Dregs (AKA The Dregs) are a reknowned rock/fusion band featuring a lineup of Guitar, Bass, Keys, Violin, Drums. The Steve Morse Band is a trio consisting of Guitar, Bass, and Drums.

This may help you decide where to start. My opinion (not very helpful) is that almost any Morse-driven album is a classic, and worth a listen.

From the Dregs, I would definitely second someone's earlier recommendation of the album "What If"... That was the first Steve Morse album I ever heard, and it still ranks among my favorites of all time. In a short album featuring 8 songs, you'll hear Steve go from hard rocking "arena" sounds (Take it Off the Top), to ethereal fusion pieces (Odyssey, What If, Travel Tunes), to funky meter-bending numbers (Ice Cakes), to classical pieces (Little Kids), to energetic bluegrass (Gina Lola Breakdown), to finally one of the most beautiful and enigmatic ballads I've ever heard (Night Meets Light). This is a microcosm of Steve Morse.

Pretty much any Dregs or Steve Morse Band album is a fantastic listen, but I would also recommend "High Tension Wires" by the Steve Morse Band rather highly. This is an odd album in that most of Morse's other albums are quite different, but most Morse fans I know consider HTW to be his masterwork. There is something undefinable and incredible about the music on that album. His classical-style high harmonics on "Country Colors" alone always give me goosebumps.

Other fantastic Morse albums include "Full Circle", "Structural Damage", "Southern Steel", "Stressfest", and the latest "Split Decision". If you want to hear live material, both "Bring 'Em Back Alive" and especially "California Screamin'" (which features my name in the liner notes) will provide an excellent replica of the real thing. You haven't lived until you've seen Steve and bassist Dave LaRue perform one of Steve's classical-style duets on stage. It's simply amazing. Oh yeah, there's also a "King Biscuit Flower Hour" Dregs live album floating around that is pretty good. You really can't go wrong with any of these. Steve sounds quite young while introducing the song "Punk Sandwich" on the latter live disc :).

I saw Steve play during a "Guitar Summit" at Dartmouth College when I was enrolled there, and he played a classical duet with a reknowned classical guitarist (whose name I can't remember - can anyone help me? It was around 1995-6). He managed to keep up, fingerstyle, with an amazing classical player. That was mind-bending.

I consider Steve Morse to be one of the most versatile guitarists ever, and I hope anyone who loves instrumental music, and especially the sound of electric guitar, will at least give Morse a try.

Finally, there is DEFINITELY a notable influence from Steve Morse on Petrucci's guitar playing. You can hear it clearly whenever Petrucci breaks into a chromatic run - he usually is pulling those licks straight from the book of Morse. For an example, check out the classic lick from "Under A Glass Moon" at around 5:26-5:30. That super-fast chromatic lick comes straight from the Morse school. If you want more examples, let me know. Morse's counterpoint also creeps into Petrucci's playing occasionally, but it's a more obscure influence to recognize.

I hope this message helped you choose a starting place for your exploration of Morse's music. I've met Steve on several occasions and he's one of those incredibly modest musicians who truly appreciates fans and lovers of the guitar. He's a phenomenal role model.

    cheers, -Neil Evans.
