    Hey everyone,

So a couple of months into the experiment, there's been a good, dedicated
turnout for the Ytsejam Direct Connect Community. There's usually about 7
to 10 people there constantly with a diverse collection of live and rare
material (not just Dream Theater), including other collections of diverse
music. Collectively we're averaging nearly 400GB of files! And the great
thing about this system is that you don't have to worry about remaining
connected if someone is downloading; the file(s) are queued, and will resume
when you connect again. People are pretty good about sticking around, and
leeching is at a minimum (compared to other file sharing networks).

Anyway, if you are interested in joining the network, send an email to
ytsejamdc@hotmail.com and include what you want your username to be. Then
download the software at http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/ I'll then send
you an email confirming your username and password and give you the server
    address to connect to.

If you have any questions, send an email to ytsejam@hotmail.com

We look forward to seeing you =)

Well, my first Devin experience was with Sex and Religion as well, which I
happen to like a lot, but his solo music, like someone else said, is very
very different from that. His solo music inclines a lot less towards
showing off, concentrating almost completely on creating moods and
portraying emotions. My first Devin album was Ocean Machine, which I think
is a very good starting point because it's probably the least crazy of his
releases, although it still sounds very original and emotional. Infinity is
the next in line, and it's probably my favorite one (maybe tied with
Terria). This album is one of the most original and emotional albums I've
ever heard. Physicist is the next release, and it's very very heavy. It
inclines more towards the Strapping Young Lad style, but it's great as well.
More screaming and less clean vox (although the screaming is melodic). The
next one is Terria, which is his most progressive album up to date. Very
emotional and running the gamut from heavy to soft. So, I think you should
buy his albums in the following order: Ocean Machine, Terria, Infinity,
Physicist. Whatever order you get them in, you're in for a treat.

By the way, I heard the new SYL song they have up at the Century Media
website, and the drumming on that song is intense. Gene Hoglan is a beast.
Still, I'd rather hear Devin singing cleanly than screaming his ass off.

    > how does his work with Vai stack up on the "Devin Scale"??? thanks.

Nothing like his solo albums. Or SYL.

I HIGHLY reccomend getting both Terria and Ocean Machine (having only
purchased them recently myself). You will not be dissapointed. The SYL
albums and Physicist are also worth getting if you like Terria and Ocean
Machine, but don't expect the sweeping, melodic grandeur of these albums to
be present. As Devin has said himself, SYL sounds like: "dump trucks driving
through Antarctica with a beat underneath", or something to that effect.

Nevertheless, they've still come from Devin's eccentric and brilliant mind
so they're a far notch above any other bands trying to pull off the same
    thing. (Soilwork an exception).

I have yet to purchase Infinity.

    Jammers,

For a review of the new Arena album, Contagion, use the following link. For
progressive rock information, I go to the Dutch Progressive Rock Page. Lots
of reviews, news, links, etc... I believe I first heard about it hear years
ago, so many of you probably already use the site.
