As far as I know, Opeth is the band playing the acoustic set, but it's
just as or more likely both bands are.

Nah, wireless is pretty small. The receivers are typically 1U high and 1/2U
    wide.

Unless you have to have one for each guitar, in which case it might become
    combersome.

they played metropolis AND UAGM?!?!?!? Dude, you suck! :-) They did the UAGM
solo in NJ, but that doesn't count. Those are 2 of 3 tunes I've never seen
live that I really want to. The other one is all of ACOS. I wouldn't mind
seeing Lifting Shadows off a Dream either.

So, hold on, braaahaha, waitaminute, Nick? NDV? The everlovin' blue-eyed
drummer of Spock's Beard? Is playing with Fates Warning? Isn't this news?
When did this happen? And where is Mark?

But the Kevin thing, as I recall from the APSoG and Disconnected news, Kevin
oonly playes on the record, and some other dude tours with them.

Sit thight people, there ought to be some news about a record soon.

First of all: News about the album: Mike has said that as soon as they're done touring, they'll go back into the studio to record vocals. I knew that they weren't done recording, but this is a little more concrete in terms of what stage they're in.

As to NDV: Yes, this is indeed Nick D'Virgilio playing for Fates, and man, did he ever smoke it. That guy is just incredible.

Doh. Sorry, it was a copy/paste job. I didn't even think Eudora did html. Let's try that again...

Fates played Point of View from Parallels, and QR played Best I Can. That's the only fill-in I can offer.

Glad Queensryche DIDN'T play Silent Lucidity..........

What a show..............Geoff Tate impressed me to no end, and then James just OWNED! It was friggin' ridiculous how good they both were. James went for and nailed many notes that he hasn't even attempted in the past. Another Day AND Under A Glass Moon were ALMOST spot on to the original vocally, and that's NEVER been the case(and I've been seeing them live since '92.) Geoff went back in time and found a voice that I didn't think was in his zip code anymore. He was better than great. He was phenomenal(and I've never really been THAT big a fan of his). DT had a couple of minor technical flubs, just to remind us that there were still humans on stage, and not machines....... ;) One of the most entertaining shows I've been to in a VERY long time. Outstanding!

SHOUT-OUTS to: Ivan(I-man), Chris Roy, Matt Crooks, Jon(SumWhiteGuy), Ryan(RyanGWU), Joe R.(DCJoe, Devilsfood), and anyone else that I may have seen or that may have seen my banana yellow DT shirt(courtesy of Josh Rasiel). Missed seeing Dave Thomas, Jaime, Mike Blevins, Coldie, et. al. Where WERE you guys???? If you weren't there, you missed one heck of a great night.

    I'm done, Kez

I'm not getting anything at that url, but I think I've found the article you're referring to: http://www.411mania.com/music/news/article.php?news_id=3586

.. and all I have to say is: OH. MY. GOD.

It's not. Try to find it on mtv.com or metallica.com, it's not there.

Here's another shot at the url, http://www.411mania.com/music/news/article.php?news_id=3586

    You must mean this:

    http://www.411mania.com/music/news/article.php?news_id=3586

The two supposed statements (mtv.com and metallica.com) are hosted on a parody site. Amusing nonetheless.

Agreed, I about shite my pants when it started.

    > they played metropolis AND UAGM?!?!?!? Dude, you suck! :-) They did the UAGM > solo in NJ, but that doesn't count. Those are 2 of 3 tunes I've never seen > live that I really want to. The other one is all of ACOS. I wouldn't mind > seeing Lifting Shadows off a Dream either.

Other comments: yes NDV (Nick of Spock's) is touring with FW I dunno what happened to Mark. Also on the lines of FW, there was no Keyboards at all, and two guitarists (which I assume is not standard?)

Speaking of Dream Theater technical flubs, did anyone notice that mister Portnoy was playing drumstick catch with one of the guys behind the soundboard? That was freaking hilarious! Also a couple of times his loogers came very close to Pertucci and or his board :-p

I've lost a few more hairs... I think, I think I'm going bald.

Two other things I forgot to mention.

I am now fairly certian the OSI song they played (the one with Nick on vox) was Head, not whatever I said it was before, anyone care to confirm or deny?

Also all I can say is HELL YES MIKE PORTNOY IN A FRANK ZAPPA SHIRT!

Idownloaded the band in question's demos and they sound nothing like Metalica, so fuck Metalica and their shitty sounding new album with horrible lyrics.
