Good grief. I hope the people that keep sending in political rantings are
at least in digest mode. Then they might have some half-assed excuse for
breaking the Ytsejam Ten Commandments repeatedly. But, if you're in ACK,
having seen 'cut it out' messages from about five old-timers already, and
you're still sending con/pro war-whining out to the Dream Theater mailing
    list...get a grip.

I made a harsh comment to try to deter this shit and I'll try it again.
(Skadz, please jump in and start kicking these fuckers off - this is clearly
in violation of the use of this mailing list).

Keep your political bullshit off the fucking ytsejam!

There are literally hundreds of political forums to discuss these matters
out there on the net. The fact that you choose to do it here tells me a
    couple things:
    1. You are incredibly inconsiderate of the people on this list
    2. You are afraid of hearing serious rebuttal to your points (which you
    would on a political forum)

So take your rantings elsewhere. The majority of people on this list don't
    want to fucking hear it.

    Thank you.

dude, you are not the only one there. i've had that happen to me on QUITE
a few occassions. plus, a few of those times were with my fiance in the
car with me, which only gave her another reason to justify telling me to
not drive so fast. so, not only do i get a mild heart attack, but also
get my ear griped off. ggrrrrrrrr.

That joke is older than my first diaper and probably doesn't make sense to anybody here. As for baiting, that's what I do best. And if you think that's freaky about the glass prison, imagine how I feel. You know how many times I have dove under my bed or something because of that thing.

    > Late reply hm?

Yep...it was one of those things where you leave it in your inbox, meaning to reply, and kind of forget it's there. :)

    > Yeah, I agree, Montreal metal / prog heads have been increasing in volume lately, and the scene seems to be getting bigger every time I head to a show. This symph X show (and the last one with Blind Guardian) were pretty sold out.

As well it should be. :) The place was certainly packed. It was really cool though - they actually played metal afterwards and people actually hung around for it!

    > As for the DT comment, I agree they would have a blast here, but the issue of them coming here is quite simple. There are plenty of little clubs and such here and there. If DT played there, it would be a mad zoo. No breathing room whatsoever. I doubt any of the big arenas or auditorium places (which house all sorts of pop bands and stuff) would pay DT enough for it to be worth it for them to come here. Most of the NON little local club people haven't even heard of DT. So it's more that they need a bigger place than the little clubs Opeth, Planet X, Flower Kings and Symphony X play at, but not such a big place that they will lose money playing there.

What about a place like they played in Quebec City, the Agora? It was an outdoor ampitheater that I'm guessing only holds a couple thousand.

    > You were in town just for SX? I'm touched :)

:) It was well worth the trip!

    > Next time you are in (like Flower Kings? they're here in June), email me, I'll show you around the lovely 'burg!

I dunno about traveling that far for the Flower Kings. :) There are only a few bands I'd travel like that for. But I definitely plan on seeing Symphony X quite a few times when they come back through. Maybe Montreal will work out for me again. :)

Enough with the war threads! Take it COMPLETELY OFF LIST!

NOT "I'm gonna state my opinion as fact (pro or con) and everybody else who wants to discuss it should do so off list!"

I am NOT gonna post my OPINION on this list because IT DOESN'T BELONG HERE!

    WAKE UP AND SHUT UP!!!

Now then - onto something that DOES BELONG on this list!

In a mind-blowing e-mail sent on the extremely historic date of 3/22/03 6:18 PM, Mike Shetzer thusly spaketh:

    > That being said time and time again... who's got some DT news?

As everyone knows, DT's been working in the studio since March 10th. What most people didn't know until recently is that DT is *not* writing/recording at Bear Tracks. As of now, the band is not supplying *any* other details - not even what studio they are working in or who's gonna mix the album.

From what MP has said, I get the distinct impression that even less info is gonna be spread by the band before the album's release than has been in the past - probably to avoid premature opinions from being formed before the album is out.. So I'd expect that the band will be keeping quiet for a decent amount of time, and I don't think we're gonna get a studio diary ala Metallica.

    Scott

PS In case you guys argue that Bear Tracks' website lists DT as being in the studio, MP has stated that the website hasn't been updated in some time. I verified this myself by e-mailing the person listed for a clarification (and to update their page).

While I would second most of what Eduardo has said, I indeed think it is about sheer madness, while economics is just one of the means to put that into scene. Guess the burden of proof will upon you to show that the US (but also e.g., and in this context highly relevant, Israel) are not fighting monsters they created, but also that many decisons in economics are not really economically motivated but hypes like only recently the New Market and not without reason so-called depressions resemble more of manic-depressive cycles, just on a collective rather than individual level (bibliography on request).

I understood the remark as less philosophical, but targeted at UN resolution 1441. The mere fact that the US and GB interpret it as a sufficient legitimation and do as they want does not mean that they indeed were justified, and that others will keep telling them so, just because confrontation with a fait accompli rendered protest futile. In fact, the US is replacing its positive image re freedom and stuff with that of a trigger-happy cowboy, as also in the following...

I don't want to get into too much of a debate on this but .... Think .... Please ....

    1) Do you think we should attack every country that has a nuclear bomb ? In that case : I think the states would be the first attacked ! (and mine the second or third)

    2) Another thing : If a much better armed army attacked the US because your president was a lunatic. And they killed hundreds (thousands !) of you innocent americans. What would you think of someone from that country egging their army on ?

    I'm not anti-american, but I definatly am anti-war and anti-bush.

    So byebye, ACBLF

PS : By the way I've a friend (David) who died in the 9/11 thingy :(

the following has nothing to do w/ the war. i read the privious posting from brian and had to laugh. the other day i was at work (a fire station) and lifting weights when that song came on. my shift commander (a 25 year firefighter who is a captain) was near by when the siren portion of the song played. He heard the sirens and quickly walked over to the window to see where the cops were going. then, when he didn't see them asked me if i saw them. lmao. jacko

i just got the OSI release in the limited edition package. i think it is unbelievable. i can't stop listening to it. i can't remember who the proposed vocalist was (sorry for this), but i think kevin's voice just sets the mood for these songs. The songs remind me of several groups that are not considered prog rock. i don't want to say too much about the sound, except to say that it is not a clone of any previous MP project and i hope they do another album w/in the next year or two. can anyone tell me if this cd is anything like kevins' solo music? i have to admit that the only thing i know about chromo key is that kevin is in it. jacko

That would be Daniel Gidenlow from Pain of Salvation.

I actually just bought this, and I only got the single disc version. What's on the extra CD, if there is a 2 disc set?

A Pink Floyd cover ("Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun"), a short tune with some samples from a "Rambo" movie, and a monster 20-minute instrumental demo that eventually evolved into about half the songs on disc 1.

Thanks God it's still DT mailing list. And I won't respond to you in private. It's up to you.

    [Andri]

This is an open letter to the many non-americans we have on the list. Thank you, please respond in private so others dont have to be troubled with reality.
