Yep, he's serious! I actually like the floyd cover very much! Can't say I've heard the original, but the spaciness is very Porcupine Tree-y and sinister, while maintaining a throbbing sort of trippiness that carries the song slowly. The 20 minute song is also cool, I like the fretless bass action on the When You're Ready section. Sean malone is greatness!

That statement basically says if I don't want to hear this on the list I
"don't want to be troubled by reality". I am "troubled by reality" and to
suggest that if I don't want to discuss this here I don't care about what is
going on is a pretty shitty thing to do.

Just for the record, as careful reading easily revealed, all of these
statements puport to speak for more than just Bruce Forst:

"Many people seem to think that just because we were attacked that we can
run around the world ignoring other nations and attacking third world
countries so we can "feel safe"."

"Many americans are standing up to Bush and his fundamentalist army and they
are from all walks of life."

"We value our freedoms more than we fear the terrorists."

"We do not all think that one American life justifies the taking of a
    thousand other lives."

"And we realize that freedom comes from self determination, not external
    coercion."

"We know Saddam is a tyrant, but you don't not stop a tyrannt with your own
    brand of tyranny."

"We helped put him in power and many others like him all over the world in
    our fight against "communism"."

"Now we will create more Saddams in our fight against "terrorism"."

"Many U.S. christians are living more like Christ and less like Jerry
    Falwell."

"And we know that War is not Peace."

    > >You don't speak for us all, you don't speak for me!

    > Now, he didn't pretend to speak for all Americans. I'd hope that

The point being that he was not speaking for just himself. I will not speak
to that last jab at "the basic fault of democracy" as again I say this is
not the right place for that discussion. :^)

    Take care,

I have been on the Jam for a long time, since near the
beginning. I don't post much, but love to read the
posts about OFB, but I am this -> <- close to
unsubscribing til the war is over unless all these
    useless, off-topic posts stop.

I read the jam, and listen to DT to get AWAY from this
crap! Can we drop it and get back to what this list is
about, or should I just unsub?

    Sorry for the rant,

Canada has decided to help the USA with Iraq.
It was announced today that Canada is now prepared to help the U.S. in
    it's war against terrorism.
They have promised to commit 2 of their largest battleships, 6000 armed
    troops and 600 fighter jets.
However, after the exchange rate, that comes down to:
     1 Canoe
     2 Mounties
     1 Flying Squirrel

Yep, he speaks of "many" and "we", but not of "most". Now, while "most"
implies "many" except with very small groups, the reverse doesn't hold :-))
Actually, one may wish for people speaking for themselves, OTOH he still is
right in so far there very well are quite a few US citizens who are of
    these opinions.

I've been on this list since 1994 and I love my Ytsejam. The initial rules of
the Ytsejam do state explicitly that there should be no politics discussed on
this list. Yet, at times like this, the war is on so many people's minds that
I feel perhaps the 'jam's "discussors of war" might have a strong point. The
only way to prevent war on this planet is to communicate.

So, Ytsejam, I propose a vote:

Should we discuss it on the list or not?
I'll be happy to keep track of the vote myself and I'll close the voting and
post the results at noon on Tuesday (Eastern time - USA).

    To vote:
Send an e-mail to me (razortag@yahoo.com) with a SUBJECT of either:

    Discuss war: YES
           or
    Discuss war: NO

Anything written in the body of the e-mail will be ignored.

*** If the vote is YES, please keep the discussions CIVIL and avoid any
namecalling and other childishness. Also, please put a [WAR] tag on the
subject of all e-mails so they can be immediately identified as such.
*** If the vote is NO, then absolutely, positively, NO MENTION OF WAR ON THIS
    LIST!!!

Frankly, I don't care either way. I get my fill of war discussions on the Pain
    of Salvation list. ;)

Finally, I'm not the moderator of this list (is it still Skadz?), so ultimately
what he says goes. I'm just interested in getting the list's opinion and
hopefully ending any resentment on the list.

    Peace.

    - Dave "Dr. Teeth" Peterson

when you're ready is my favorite song on this cd. shut down is also great.
the mood of this whole album is so moody and dark. i even got my niece to
take out her good charlot out and play this. she's going to media play this
    comming weekend to buy osi.
i get two people hooked, they get two people hooked, and so on...

does any one know if it's true that mike wasn't happy w/ the whole sound/vibe
of osi or is that just ugly rumour?

Kevin Moore's solo material (Chroma Key) is much softer than this OSI
release and waayyy more experimental. His stuff is way out there. But if
that's your bag, grab it. :)

i just got the OSI release in the limited edition package. i think it is
unbelievable. i can't stop listening to it.
i can't remember who the proposed vocalist was (sorry for this), but i think

kevin's voice just sets the mood for these songs. The songs remind me of
several groups that are not considered prog rock. i don't want to say too
much about the sound, except to say that it is not a clone of any previous
    MP
project and i hope they do another album w/in the next year or two.
can anyone tell me if this cd is anything like kevins' solo music? i have to

admit that the only thing i know about chromo key is that kevin is in it.

Damn, sometimes I wish the US would just close it's borders tight, stop all
imports and exports, stop giving money to anyone else in the world and say,
"Bye, good luck!" to everyone else. Wonder what the world would look like
    then?
If we had done that during WWII, many if not all of you would be speaking
German and the rest of you would probably be dead.

Before bashing the US gov't, find out how much aid our gov't. gives yours,
how many of you immigrants are prospering here now and the many other ways
"that damn US gov't." has helped your country. Some of you make me sick!

If anyone is interested I am selling 3 ps2 games (one of which I hardly
ever play so its sort of a bonus to the auction) on eBay (Devil may cry
2, baldur's gate and Ephemeral Fantasia). If you're interested, please
check it out, so far no bids, and the games are all in great condition.
If any of you decide to bid, please email me and tell me who you are,
for liking DT you get charged less for shipping :P

For crying in a bucket. The jam allows off topic stuff so as to be a more
diverse, interesting place to be. For the most part, this consists of lots
of other bands being talked about, which is great. However, I didn't join
this list way back when to listen to a bunch of people yell at each other
about Iraq, etc. For the first time ever, The Mirror seems like it might be
a better choice than the jam.

So here's what I'd like to see happen. There are twenty billion message
boards on the net, and I'm sure that for a lot of them, talking about this
crap is actually on topic. If those don't suit, you follow what happened
with the MP forum. People there got the shits with the non stop threads
about religion and politics, and other threads being hijacked by those
topics. So the people that wanted to talk about that stuff went off and
    created their own board.

Your very own war flame list is but a click to yahoo groups away.

    Now for something worthwhile.

Are there any aussies that are going to be at the Opeth concert in Sydney? I
    know Karyn is coming :P

    So, sssssshhhhh now :)

no more war talk, please. Let's keep our happy little family happy and
talk about music, rather than politics :)

OK, I really have nothing to say about Gwar. But if I would have, at least it would have been on topic.
