If anyone out there has the japanese version of 6 Degrees Of Inner
Turbulence with the bonus track I have a question for you.

Is the radio edit version of Solitary Shell the same as the one on Six
Degrees Of Radio Edits that was sent to fan club members? If it is
    different, what's different about it?

    Thanks,

    Chris

That's a good question, Mike; I do recall thinking one of the tracks sounded
oddly cut-off (though after knowing 'Pull Me Under' that's not necessarily
so strange). I'd check, but I mysteriously cannot find the spindle of cd's
it's hiding in. I accuse my father, in the living room, with the random
tidying manouvre. I'll have another listen when I find it. :-P

I think they suck. Badly. And I have heard quite a lot of their stuff. So perhaps _you_ should open your mind and not think you are speaking for everyone.

It would have made no difference anyway. The list has rules and that's it. Skadz said a few days ago that the war discussions should end.

Well, the only recommendations I can think of if you like OSI are the latest Fates Warning album "Disconnected" and Chroma Key (I only have the first one, Dead Air for Radios). CK is a lot less heavy than OSI, but there's still a lot of similarities. I personally like the OSI album quite a bit, although I have to be in the mood to listen to it. Did anybody notice that some of the videos on disc 2 are out of sync?

I recently ordered 3 cds which I am anxiously awaiting: the new Devin Townsend Band (it's finally available), the new Racer X and the new Marty Friedman. I'll post my comments on them once I get them.

To those of you that are Racer X fans, how does Superheroes compare to Technical Difficulties? I still need to get Superheroes. And I also saw that they have a new live album out. Does it cover mostly new material or does it include older stuff? And how does it compare to their first live album, which I think is brilliant?

Indeed, it can. Sorry about that, I was just copying what I saw on the screen!

Hm. Well, actually my tequila comment was a reference to my own experience with that beverage last year... I didn't really drink over the weekend, but joined a group in birthday shots, and suffice it to say I will never have tequila again. It almost, but not quite, took the Threshold carpet out from underneath me, metaphorically speaking. :) I enjoyed all the sets that I was inside for, the rest I enjoyed buying CDs during ;)

    >I spent way too much money on cds there last year! >This year I'm going to try to tone it down. :)

I spent way too much also... the scary part was, I didn't get all the CDs that I wanted to buy!!

Hey Babs! If you hadn't signed your email, I would never have known it was you from the email address... :)

I love margaritas, so I've been careful never to have one of those awful tequila experiences. I've heard people say that the mere smell of tequila makes them feel sick. :) I watched all of the sets, although one of them about put me to sleep. Threshold was my favorite band there and I'll thank Glenn forever for bringing them over!

They're an italian (I think... it's been a while since I listened to them) prog metal band with two albums out, as far as I know. When their first album was released, I think the band members were about 16 years old (the keyboardist is substantially older), and now I imagine they're about 18-19 or so. Check them out if you're curious. ----- Original Message ----- From: Antony Gelberg To: Multiple recipients of list Sent: Wednesday, March 26, 2003 6:29 PM Subject: Re: Flamewar history

Nah, they probably suck. ;-) Actually as much as I love prog, I'm not into that many prog metal bands. DT (of course), PoS, Opeth, and later FW. That's about it. Everything else I've heard is just too cheesy. I don't understand why most prog metal singers need to sing so high and with so much vibrato. I did hear a Shadow Gallery track that I really liked (Stiletto), but I was put off buying an album due to alleged cheese metal vocals.

I don't know if Enchant count, but I do really like their singer. I just find their music to be a little variable in quality. "Blink Of An Eye" has some great songs, and some very boring ones.

But my love for DT more than makes up for my indifference to the rest of the genre. I should also point out that generally I don't listen to as much metal as I did, say, 10 years ago, and maybe then I'd have been more receptive to SX etc...

Personally, I reckon the best singing I've ever heard in prog is PoS. I don't think he has the best voice I've heard, but I think they have the best vocal lines in their music.

I get turned off by the ball squeezing pitches too :P
