For the record, I don't like the new album enough to go out and buy it,
but I do like it a bit (when they're not ruining a decent song with ADD
wanks and awful lyrics). It's the strongest effort since FII, imo. Now,

    1. So, what you're saying is, if I disagree with an opinion, I shouldn't
say so. No wonder this list has been so dead, if nobody thinks it's okay
    to disagree.

    2. And, it's funny how when a guy said he wouldn't buy the album based on
what he'd been told about the style, it was perfectly acceptable to call
    him a sheep...

.. but when a guy says, "I'll buy anything DT puts out, because it's
DT!", it's not acceptable to make the same comment? Uh, hello, he
explicitly said he'd buy ANYTHING with their name on it just because of
    the name! Duhhhhh!

See #2 above. Kez, I respect you, but I think this was a silly
comment. I simply expressed my opinion (yes, in my vehement way, so shoot
me) and pointed out the silliness of blindly sucking down anything a band
puts out, just because that name is on it.

    Yo Bri,

Strongest effort since SFaM I would say... 6DoIT was garbage.

SFaM had its moments, but overall it felt like they tried way too hard to shoehorn things, lyrically, into the concept (obviously, lyrics are important to me).

And, anytime Jordan was left to his own devices his ditties drove me nuts. :)

Spoilers to those who have not heard TOT yet but I guess it's a little late for you !

Before DT I came from a Metal/Fusion background, I guess a lot of you came from a rock background and don't like the sound and ideas. But that's only a guess because I LOVE THIS ALBUM (at least for the moment it's 4/7 and growing). I want to give the view of someone not only from a rock background, if this is the problem. I'm actually tired of only seeing the flaming and those who like the Album not speaking up (not many in anyway).

So here's my little review after near non stop listening since the 10th Nov =>

The album is overall very good with another direction change, one of those albums I think you don't like first time but ends up growing to 100000000 listens (like Awake, I&W and SFAM for me). As for the 3 weeks remember that both LTE's were made in less then that. I divide the Album into 2 parts the 3/7 not so good (yet) and the 4/7 amazing releases.

As I Am : I at first did not like this song but it's growing. I can critic the blatent "Black Album" James Het sounding voice (3:15 into the song). THis one is among the 3/7 not so good ones.

Dying Soul : Cool song, the kind I like, even the disto rappy bit starting at 3:46. This one is still among the 3/7 not so good ones.

Endless Sacrifice : Amazing song ! Great bass and timing very catchy even if not all understood yet (I goin to have a bitch of a time playing that one ;) ). The singing is great, all of it :) I love all the instru parts in the second half, as I have found (finaly understood) the direction. This is the 4/7 great parts.

Honor Thy Father : I love the start, it's much to much like Damage Inc., but I love it (has anyone else thought this). Oddly (?) I don't mind the rapping bit, I think it fits but then again I'm not a rap fan so I can't compare, a lot of you jammers seem to be rap fans ;) "Cross the crocked step ?", what is this ? This one is among the 3/7 not so good ones.

Vacant : Short, to the point, an "every one likes it" song. It's quite catchy, I hope I won't tire of this one too quickly. Nonetheless for the moment it's among the 4/7 greaties.

SOC : Wow wow and triple wow. So good I feel it's only 2 mins long. Pure xcellance. It's all there, and a lot sound like LTE. We've waited so long. It's among the 4/7.

In the name of God : Go for it Myung (8:38) ! Amazing song. Seems quite influenced by Jordan actually. I think my favorite for the moment, brings me back to the Awake days for no particular reason.

Thanks to the guys for giving birth to TOT.

Bye bye for now, back to TOT, ACBLF

Actually, I think the beginning is "Thunder" by ACDC, then it goes into Eruption.

The new album: I haven't listened to it enough, but I think I like it better than the 1st 6doit disc. However, many have complained about ripping parts from other bands - I think there's so much of their own material in it, I'd compare it to SFAM in that respect if it were a concept album.

And on a side, how come some people don't grasp the concept of opinion??

I'll tell you why I asked "what was so progressive about FII". I joined this list right after FII was released. The argument then (and I agree) was that DT had let label pressure water down the output of the band in hopes of a radio single. That is not progressive thinking IMO. Now as far as the music goes, Let me Breathe and Lines in the Sand can stand alone and be progressive. Peruvian Skies sounds like 2 of DT's favorite Metallica songs squished together. New Millenium, Trial of Tears may sound progressive when compared to Anna Lee and Take away my Pain. However, since FII was not the first album I listened to, I have to compare with the other DT albums and I believe that they did indeed take a step backward. Thank God for SFAM! I am not getting on the TOT bandwagon yet since it hasn't arrived yet. I can predict that I probably won't like it at first, but after several listens I may enjoy it. Kind of like what happened when I bought 6DoIT.

My friend pointed out something to me yesterday I found amusing. Listen to the beginning of Endless Sacrifice, and hum "if you don't like my shit you can suck my dick" or however that Eminem song goes over it. I've only heard that song like 0.3 times and i find it kinda funny that the melody is similar.
