I've heard bad things about some of the new versions of WinAmp, so I'm
sticking with 2.77. For ogg files, I use Quintessential Media Player, which
    is available from download.com.

Is it finally able to play tracks back to back without gaps? The little pops between tracks on DT albums always pissed me off :P

I guess I should upgrade, I have some ancient version of Winamp...

hey, just out of curiousity, was anyone able to make it to the pittsburgh show on 3/23?? it's the first 2nd time in a row they've been in town that i've had to miss them (the other time being w/ fatez & queensryche, no less). what was it like??? post a review if you were there.

and, more importantly, if anyone made it to the show who happened to RECORD IT, then PLEASE let me know. oh yeah, that also applies to the show w/ FW & QR too!

    thanks.

The new Winamp 5.02 plays .ogg files just fine without any modifications. I had old Winamp 2.6, and installed the full version of 5.02 and was able to double-click the .ogg files and play 'em just fine. :) Plus the new version has some killer features. Free.

Yes, thanks a bunch Chris! I recorded my great show on a crappy little tape machine, so it probably sounds like junk, but we'll see. Winamp 3.x blows monkey chunks Winamp 4 AFAIK is nonexistent Winamp 5 is definitely awesome, it takes advantage of many of XP's features and still sounds as good as the original. Check it out if you liked 2.x and hated 3

Winamp 5 by itself can not play gapless however there is a free plug-in (mp3splice.dll www.pyramidedata.dk) which does this very well.

That's not entirely accurate about Winamp 5 and gapless playback; you can fudge with the preferences and not have to use a plugin.

    http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?postid=1184755#post1184755

Now gapless with Audio CDs is another story, I still can't get Winamp to do it even with the recommended preferences.

BTW, the idea behind Winamp 5... Why there is no version 4... Winamp 2 + Winamp 3 = Winamp 5 Kinda clever. :-)

I've been using Winamp 5 since the PR beta days, and it's great, and only getting better.

first of all, i don't have a set list. i could probably re-create _most_ of it, but there are people who i'm sure are better at it than i am. i will say they played Trial of Tears, which made me happy...

a few thoughts... this is the first time i saw crowd surfing and mosh pits at a DT show. as the 9:30 club is smallish, i was damn near punching a few jokers in the ribs. James was right on pretty much all night; i don't think he missed anything at all. JM was audible, which was nice, too. JP was _on point_ all night -- he just kept shredding, and he was awesome.

Jordan seemed to be enjoying himself, and was good all night. the Zappa tribute/jam thing was excellent, i thought. MP from a technical and execution standpoint was excellent. but he didn't seem to be the same old Mike -- you know always instigating hyjinx and stuff on stage. is he bummed out from the dude who fell off the balcony the other night? or is he just weary of being on the road? i dunno, i've seen probably close to 50 DT shows and i've not seen MP this un-motivated before. i'm not complaining, though, maybe it's just me being too critical.

the show started pretty much on time at 8:00pm, precisely a 15 minute intermission, and ended a bit after 11:15pm i think. i think that the video screens and the light show were an excellent addition to the stage. they had some pretty creative video sequences, particularly for `In the Name of God' (which was the encore, BTW).

i'm travelling to NYC this weekend to see their final show of this leg at MSG. i wonder if they'll have any surprises, what with being the final show and being in their hometown and all.

PS. does anyone know what the `ERT!' on the back of Mike's `eat my ass and balls' t-shirts means? i'm stumped.

Really? What speed CPU do you have Niall ? Mine is a 1.7gHz and when I select all of the .ogg DT files to "play in winamp", there is NOT a gap inbetween songs using WinAmp 5.02 (current version). There was a gap with my old WinAmp 2.6. Maybe it's different on different CPU's is all I can think of with the gap..

That doesn't really work with well made MP3s. For example I ripped SFaM (EAC>WAV>SCMPX>MP3) and listened to it with the prefs fudged and with the plugin. Sounded much smoother with the plugin. Its free and very small, what do you have to loose?
