    Hi gang -

I just heard a rumor from a friend of mine (who heard through a guy he works
with) about an upcoming Fates Warning/Savatage tour, and the only thing I can
find on the net about it is on the official FW webpage
    (http://www.fateswarning.com):

"A close source has stated that there may be a possiblity of a Fates
    Warning/Savatage tour in 2001"

Does anyone have any more info than this, or at least know where to find
additional info? As of right now, there's nothing on http://www.savatage.com
or Mike Kizer's Ivory Gate website.

That tour would KICK ASS, although like many of you, I was extremely
disappointed by the Pitrelli and Stevens 'Tage departures. I'm hopeful that
their replacements will be at least similar in style and sound.

    Laterz... Matt T.

Hall of the Mountain King is still the only Savatage CD I've ever cared for.
Anything after that (to ME) just went off on a tangent..

It is just a rumor at this point, nothing official has been
stated... although it is a being looked into as far as I have heard
(probably the same source as fw.com -- which is not really an official
site, but a fan site. The only official site is the page or so listed at
metalblade.com. Just stating this because you won't see any info like this
on the official site, the record label will only release info when it is
    completely confirmed)...

I am really hoping that this tour comes together, if Sava finishes
up their album quickly then it may be possible...

    Damn buisness tricks!!!

They just throw in a little snippet so that you drool all over until it
    is released.
I'm really not obsessed with buying DVD, but after watching this ...
ummmmm ... strated to think about it. :)
Do feel quite moronic because not so long ago I thought it's moronic
buying a DVD player just because some DT DVD (as some jammers said). But
    now ... damn.

How much can DVD player cost, without speakers, ... just the player?

I just picked up Brad Gillis-Gilrock Ranch. He was/is? a guitarist
in Night Ranger. The album came out in 92 but has been unavailable
for several years, but has been rereleased on Koch Records.
Anyway, reading the liner notes, I noticed that Derek co-wrote
6 of 10 songs and plays on 8 of 10. It's not a bad cd if you like
solo guitar stuff. Mostly instumental with Greg Allman singing on
    one track.

Trevor bought 20 cds at the Boxing Day Sale.

    My history w/savatage:

1995: I buy ACOS and after reading the liner, subscribe to our crazy
'jam. What is this "bafu" that they speak of?

1996: Since everyone keeps yammin' it up, I check out Dead Winter Dead,
and like it right away. I especially like the vocals and the neat-o
layering of sound. I put it on the other side of a QR- Rage For Order
tape, for the car. Yankees win series.

1996 again: WTF, I say live life. I see another Savatage album and if
nothing else, they sure have nice covers - always important to me. This
one's Handful Of Rain. I take it home and I'm blown away! Chance becomes
one of my all time favorite songs. Did I mention the yankees spanked the
braves? Now i'm an official savafan.

1997: Like a monkey learning a valuable lesson after getting stun-gunned
for touching button A, I too have learned a boundary, and it goes by
the name of "Streets". This was my introduction to Jon Oliva as a
vocalist. I didn't give it a second thought: from that day forward, I
resolved to never listen to anything Jon Oliva has ever sung, ever.

1997: I'm sick of only listening to DWD, HOR, and Edge Of Thorns. On my
way to a Chanukah party, I pop in Gutter Ballet, just to kill some time.
It kicks ass. I like it so much, I decide to give streets another
chance, and holy shit, it turns out Streets kicks ass too! although, it
does seem Savatage has a real penchant for cheese when it comes to these
story lines. They call me downtown jesus? I call you savacheese. but
    it's a very good album.

1997: I grow to love GB and Streets as much as my Zak stuff, but I also
notice that there's a regression with each earlier album that I buy.
Clearly, this is a band that sucked at first and has grown and developed
their trademark sound. I learn about "fight for the rock" and "power of
the night" and "fight for the night" and "power of the rock" and decide
I won't buy anything earlier than GB, especially since I hear TWoM is
    supposed to come out soon.

1997: I hear TWoM is supposed to come out soon.

1997: I hear TWoM already came out. In Europe.

1998: I hear TWom is supposed to come out soon on my continent.

1998: TWoM is released and I LOVE IT! The best savatage album EVER! Even
the cheesy story is incredible! Can they top this???

Today: Ahhhh, no. They can't. But, you know, all the theatrics and the
"food, glorious food!" and all that does begin to wear a bit thin
sometimes. the thing I like about Gutter Ballet is, there's no
cheesy-ass story, there's no David Copperfield crap(author, not
magician), it's more real, and tends to be harder and more energetic. I
know there's some story to it, insofar as it relates to oliva's
problems, but it's not at all cheesy.

So what I'm hoping is that this new thing will be as good or better than
Gutter Ballet, but without the cheddar. No reason it won't be.

BUT on the bright side..... The new album is now going to be a concept

Uhh I heard on the sava site that PM is gonna be a concept album. They
said the had written some lyrics, then Paul took those lyrics and in his
wonderful style sat down with em and presented an idea for a concept..
Its been a whil since I read that, I think its something about 3 boys

Im really lookin foward to that.

    hey jammers,
i love TSO, but the only savatage that i can ever remember hearing
was the song "edge of thorns". they played it all the time about 5 years
ago when pittsburgh actually had good rock radio stations. which of the
two singers is on that album? zak, or jon? that'll give me an idea as to
whether i would dig their sound or not. thanks.

hey again, the post about acoustic dreams made me think about this: every time anyone posts anything about boots, they are always looking to give a copy away for a trade. well, not all of us are fortunate enough to have boots to trade. there's always the option of trading for a copy of a rare lp. or there's the option of trading a copy of a boot (such as acoustic dreams) for cold hard cash. this is sometimes the only way those of us less fortunate can experience such wonderful things. if there's anyone on this list that has a high-quality copy of that memorable fanclub show in rotterdam that would be willing to *sell* a copy to a fellow dt junkie, that would be one hell of a way to bring in my new year. private email response would be preferable. thanks a lot.

Hi. I can't just post a message saying that I killed my li.net account and you should please write to me at this dreamtheater.zzn.com address, so I'll tell you how Dream Theater was played at my work holiday party. It wasn't in the main party room, but one guy who loves metal music was tired of the music played so he played one of the two Dream Theater songs he likes on the other side of the office. Gotta start somewhere. Happy holidays. -Rachel

    OK!

Here's an idea to have Dream Theater play in the states at a festival and promote themselves.

MUSIC MIDTOWN FESTIVAL in Atlanta, GA. May 4, 5 and 6.

They have ALL TYPES of music and Dream Theater would be awesome to play there. Just ask Mr. Cashman and Mr. Carter - I think they'll agree with me.

There is actually a Performer Application on the web site - http://www.musicmidtown.com. If someone could forward that link to Mike or someone in the band - I think we could see them playing in Atlanta.

    THANKS!

I downloaded off of napster a mp3 of acos from the late 2000 tour, and the sound quality is iffy. Does anybody have the song, from Roseland, maritime hall or any other of the summer tour and can tell me where to get it? I would love to have it, as I remember it rocked when they played it at roseland

There are people who have it at Roseland ("Please don't go!!!"), but I would wager that none of them are willing to give it up (a certain Boston- based bootleg website owner won't give it up to me no matter how much I promise him sexual favors) since it's without a doubt going on the DVD.

Too bad, too; I REALLY want a boot of that song. :)

OK, here's where I flip into sympathy mode.

I am totally fucking blind here, people. Why am I going to own a DVD player? For the picture quality? I just want the song. Damnit. Hell, if they just release the audio from the DVDE, I would buy it, but they won't. I am not buying a dVD player to get half of the experience of one DVD. That's idiotic. I personally loved Hall Of The Mountain King from the first day that I heard it way back in '87. That album brings back some great teenage memories for me. Sirens and Dungeons I thought were pretty good too considering the years that they were released.

Fight For The Rock and Power Of The Night were pretty average at best. Gutter Ballet was awesome, a return to the magic that I considered 'Tage to be reknowned for. Streets to me sucked the big one so bad that I completely lost interest after that, until of course I actually heard the title track of Edge Of Thorns... This band was re-born!!

Handful Of Rain was a huge sounding disc too and even though Criss was gone and Jon was only just sort of hanging in there, I still loved the style that 'Tage was belting out. Dead Winter Dead... Absolutely awesome!! Wake Of Magellan... Holy cow!!!! But now... Hmmm... the jury is gonna be out for some time methinks.

This band have progressed so much over the last 7 years or so that I have a feeling that this album may actually re-gress. I hope not but I'm not holding my breath either. To me it was Zakk that breathed fresh life into this band and so now the future of 'YTage is uncertain in my eyes.

My 0.24 Aussie cents worth... Our dollar sure ain't worth much these days!! ;)

    Paul.
